Brother lists the PE800 as discontinued and names the PE900 as its replacement. That changes the decision: compare a complete, demonstrated used PE800 with the current PE900, including condition, warranty eligibility and the transfer functions you will use.

Five by seven is a design limit
Both machines embroider; neither sews ordinary seams or hems. The PE900 does not enlarge the PE800’s 5 x 7 inch field. Measure the stitch-data dimensions of the next five designs before paying for either. A larger physical hoop does not enlarge the machine’s maximum stitch field.
As an illustration, a 4 x 6 inch name layout fits within that field, while a 6 x 8 inch motif does not fit in one placement. Splitting or resizing can change the work and stitch density. Choose a larger-field machine when those larger designs recur rather than assuming wireless transfer solves the size constraint.
Demonstrate a used PE800 from file to fabric
- Check the model badge, regional rating, embroidery unit, 5 x 7 frame, embroidery foot, bobbin case and included tools.
- Initialize the carriage with clear travel space and test touch-screen controls across the screen.
- Import a known-good supported embroidery file by USB.
- Hoop equivalent fabric with the intended stabilizer and preview placement.
- Stitch a multicolor sample, including a thread change, stop and restart.
- Inspect registration, puckering and the back; confirm the thread sensors and cutter behave as the manual describes.
A power-on photograph establishes none of those functions. Ask for a sample on the material you intend to use; a cotton stitch-out does not establish the same outcome on towel pile or stretchy clothing.
Use the PE800 product documentation for its original contents and discontinued status, and the PE800 manual library for loading, transfer and maintenance procedures.
What the PE900 adds
The current PE900 adds wireless PC transfer through Design Database Transfer, Artspira connectivity, color sorting and jump-stitch trimming. These are workflow differences, not a guaranteed improvement in stitch quality. USB remains a documented import route, and downloaded artwork still needs compatible embroidery stitch data.
Budget for embroidery and bobbin thread, fabric-specific stabilizer, needles and test material. Compare used machine + missing compatible parts + service quote + delivery against the complete current offer. There is no universal discount percentage that makes an untested used machine good value.
Verdict and purchase identity
A complete PE800 can merit consideration when its demonstrated USB workflow and 5 x 7 field meet your projects. The PE900 makes more sense when its current package, applicable warranty and wireless/trim functions justify the difference in total cost. Verify seller eligibility rather than assuming every new marketplace offer has the same support.
The Amazon option is the PE900 replacement, a different model from the PE800. No current PE800 price, hands-on stitch result or reliability claim is made.

Questions before buying
Does the PE900 provide a larger field than the PE800?
No. Both specify 5 x 7 inches. The PE900 differences include wireless transfer, color sorting and jump-stitch trimming.
Is the purchase link a PE800?
No. The purchase option is clearly labeled as the PE900 replacement. A discontinued PE800 requires an exact used or remaining-stock offer and a sewing-condition demonstration.
