Map the chair’s movement
Sit at the sewing position and measure how far the casters travel when approaching the needle, reaching storage and standing up. Include those caster positions rather than sizing a floor mat to the machine’s base on top of the table.
For example, a 40-inch-wide rolling footprint exceeds a 36-inch mat even before allowing room near the edges. A 46-inch width supplies 6 inches more than that footprint, but the 48-inch depth must still cover movement in the other direction. Those are geometry checks, not a promise that this size fits every sewing room.
Choose a shape that works around table legs without leaving the normal chair path on a raised edge. Several small cutting mats create joints and transitions; they are not a manufacturer-defined substitute for one continuous chair mat.
Match the floor and underside

If the problem is vibration at the tabletop, use an appropriate under-machine mat . If the problem is rotary-blade cuts, use a cutting mat on a supported cutting surface. Separate these jobs before buying one sheet described as doing everything.
